Published in 1875, A History of the City and County of Cork, is another contribution from the prolific author and historian Sr. Mary Francis Cusack (Margaret Ann Cusack 1829-1899). Following on from her earlier History of the Kingdom of Kerry, the History of the City and County of Cork follows a similar format with an extensive summation of the history of Cork dating from the pre-Christian period up to the early 19th Century. This is supported with work on the flora and fauna, the geology, a topographical guide, and the breeds of cattle in the county. Also included are full lists of the High Sheriffs of the county and Mayors of the city, as well as pedigrees of the O’Sullivan, O’Driscoll and MacCarty families.
