What is inside?

This is one of the rarest county directories for anywhere in Ireland. As far as we know the copy in Trinity College is one of the only surviving copies of this book in the world. The book contains a detailed historical and topographical survey of the county, including copies of documents, fulsome descriptions of major events, and even poetry. This section is followed by County Statistics, which list all the major and minor office holders in the county, legal institutions, and the medical service. Thereafter follows detailed directories of all the main towns and villages in the county, being Enniskillen, Lisnaskea, Brookeborough, Maguiresbridge, Lowtherstown, Newtownbutler, Pettigo, Derrgonnelly, Belleek and Garrison. These include lists of nobility, gentry, clergy, professionals, commissioners, schools, transport, and every tradesman in the district, with their address. At the end there is a list of fairs and markets in the county, a number of advertisements, and an index. This book is an essential tool for anyone researching places and people in County Fermanagh.
