Expert Workshop: Another Link in the Family Chain…

27 Apr 18 to 27 Apr 18

Collections in local archive services are often overlooked by family history researchers, but investing the time in accessing these documents can help to fill in long-standing gaps in one’s family history.

Drawing on a diverse range of manuscript collections that reflect the cultural, commercial, maritime, political and social heritage of County Wexford, this talk will explore some of the primary source materials in Wexford County Archive that are relevant for family history research.

Gráinne Doran has been Wexford County Council’s archivist since 2002. Before that, she worked as Midland Regional Archivist with Laois, Offaly, Longford and Westmeath County County Councils. She was one of the co-authors of the National Retention Policy for Local Authority Records, published in 2002, and of the Local Authority Archivists’ Group’s publication, Local Authority Archives in Ireland (2004).

This is a free event. Due to high demand, booking is required - please follow the eventbrite link to reserve your place.

The Expert workshops are curated by Fiona Fitzsimons, (Eneclann /Irish Family History Centre), & hosted by the Royal Irish Academy.

I cannot attend this workshop, but am very interested in Co. Wexford family history resources, especially any relating to Carne. Will notes from Grainne's talk be made available? Rex Sinnott
