Intergenerational fun at the IFHC

We love to keep busy down at the Irish Family History Centre and as Family is our business, we thought it would be a good idea to run a few kid-friendly activities alongside our 'grown up' talks! 

 

 

Grandparents Day: Intergenerational Storytelling Tour with IFHC

Wednesday 29 January 2020

3:30pm – 5:00pm

Tickets €15

Celebrate Grandparent’s Day by joining us for an inter-generational tour of EPIC and a storytelling session.

Suitable for primary school children and their grandparents, discover inspiring and intriguing stories of Irish emigrants around the world – from Anne Bonny the pirate, to Spitfire Paddy the RAF Wing Commander – before taking part in a collective story time, where you get to follow in the footsteps of Irish storytellers of old and share your own tales of adventure with your grandchildren!

Pre-Booking is mandatory for this event as spaces are limited. Children must be accompanied by an adult at all times during the workshop. Each ticket includes a space for one adult and one child.

Spring Around the World: Brigid’s Day Craft Workshop with the IFHC

Saturday 1 February

11am – 1pm

Tickets €8

Discover how the Irish celebrate Spring around the world in this fun and creative craft workshop suitable for children ages 6 – 12 years old. Learn all about the Irish traditions of St. Brigid’s day, such as making nature tables, before exploring how other cultures welcome in Spring. As part of this workshop, you will create a range of colourful craft items to take home, from Brigid’s straw crosses to Japanese cherry blossoms!

Pre-Booking is mandatory for this event as spaces are limited. Children must be accompanied by an adult at all times during the workshop.

TradFest ‘Create, Craft & Play’ 

EVENT CANCELLED 

Explore the connection between family history and music in this ‘creative craft and play’ workshop. Suitable for families with children ages 6 – 12 years old, each family will create their own musical instrument together and explore some songs from the past all while in the atmospheric vaults of the CHQ building.

Tickets are €12 per family taking part and one ticket entitles you to make one instrument. Please purchase more tickets if you require more instruments.

Pre-Booking is mandatory for this event as spaces are limited. Children must be accompanied by an adult at all times during the workshop.
